Traveller Vignette 008

My phone bleeped, notifying me that traffic was heavy and I'd better leave a few minutes early for the meeting across town it could see in my calendar. I sighed and got up.

Good Afternoon, Mr Johnson” the elevator said politely as I stepped in.

Car park” I said, deliberately omitting the “please”. I always disliked these demi-conversations I'm obliged to hold with lifts, vending machines, luggage trolleys and every other piece of voice activated junk one you get on late mid-tech worlds.

I phoned my car on the way down, and it rolled round to the front of the building to pick me up; thankfully, I'd had the garage mute its voice except for legally required safety messages

(Author's note - This is more colour to remind players that the TL9 world they are on isn't just 2020s Earth - if you are running a SF game, then the worlds should feel different from today, even if only in small ways)
